Why haven’t I heard of Somatics before now?

Never heard of Somatics before?  This is what most people say. Thomas Hanna invented the name Hanna Somatics or Somatics in the mid 70’s to describe his work which is an effective form of neuromuscular (mind-body training) movement re-education that goes directly to the root cause of most chronic muscular pain: the brain and the way in which it senses and organizes the muscles and movement. It is a neurmuscular education of movements to improve freedom of movement without pain. Reversing the signs of ageing cause by SMA (Sensory Muscle Amnesia).

The Three Components of Hanna Somatics

SENSORY MOTOR AMNESIA

“SMA” is the condition of chronically-tight muscles that develops due to accidents, injuries, surgeries, and on-going stress.

THE STRESS REFLEXES

The brain responds to stress within three specific full- body reflexes: the Red Light, Green Light and Trauma Reflexes.

PANDICULATION
